As part of the Mend n Mingle series, Explore how to mend knitted items using techniques like Swiss darning, duplicate stitch and some crochet embellishments. Participants will learn to stabilize holes and ladders in jumpers, socks, and scarves — preserving texture, shape, and wearability.

Workshop leader: Marion Stuart is a member of the creative group Dun-Up. They meet regularly in Marion’s marvelous sewing room to reimagine fabrics and clothes. They then sell these items at local markets, shops and in the Visitor’s Information Centre to raise money for local community groups. Marion has a lot of energy and a wonderful “She’ll be right” philosophy. You will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere she creates as we learn a selection of skills to mend all manner of knitted objects.

Workshop fee: $55.00

Marion is kindly using her facilitator fees to add to the fundraising initiative of Dun-Up. She is part of this creative community group passionate about keeping unwanted textiles out of landfill. Based in Dungog, NSW, Dun-Up also fundraise to support local community groups doing good work, have aligned values and where they see their contribution is needed most.
